Marvin - It is quite a bizarre idea and I agree with you about the photography itself. But I think the main interest in the project is the process and the act of what Goldchain did more than the photography itself. It's also a commentary on the nature of photography in preserving family identities, which is in such a state of change since the advent of digital photography of course.

This is quite a bizarre concept but also somewhat fascinating. Reading the first paragraph of this post, I was thinking what about the female members of his family? Obviously this is revealed later, Goldchain went to extraordinary lengths to portrait all kinds of characters. The photography itself, although very good, is not particularly compelling. It is a great shame that the book is not factually accurate as this would have made the project more worthwhile I'm not really convinced as to why anybody outside of Goldchain's family would want to purchase this book.
