Kenya Hara Preview

kenya_hara_spine.jpg

I have been doing some moonlighting over at Eye magazine’s blog for their The Form of the Book series.

The Form of the Book is about what books look like – how they are designed, produced and feel more than the content itself. The physical aspect of design books is one of the key reasons why The Designer’s Review of Books was started and we try to cover some aspect of the production in most reviews.

I chose Keyna Hara’s Designing Design because it stands out as a lovely object quite apart from anything else. I like just holding it in my hands and reading it at night is rather soothing. When compared to the other design books on my desk, it really stands out as something of simple beauty.

I will be posting a full review of Designing Design fairly soon (I’m still reading it), but for now, you can get a preview of how it looks and feels, at least, over at the Eye blog.
