This sounds pretty exciting, but is it really possible to push the whole principles of design in just one book???

Designer D’s last blog post..Design Zeitschriften

This is a good book to read whether you are new to design or have been doing it for 15 years like I have. My design department recently read and discussed this book, and we found the content to be quite useful in helping us match our intuitions to solid design principles. Many of us knew these principles but didn't necessarily know why we knew them. Now we have a stronger sense of purpose when designing, more rationale to support to our designs, and greater ability to talk about design principles with our clients. In short, this is a good resource for helping to improve your designs and your relationships with clients.

We also found this book to be a good discussion starter. We chose to go through the book using the categories provided in the book. With categories such as, "How can I help people learn from a design?" and "How can I make better design decisions?" you can't help but create lively discussions within your team. Plus, we worked hard to bring in examples of the principles, so we could see them applied in the designs around us. It worked for our team; it could work for yours as well.

Will do -- things are slowing down at work because of the holidays coming up, so hopefully I'll be able to hide out for a little while and graze through it... and thanks for stopping past retinart, I'm glad you found something you liked

Piotr - I can understand that. But if you do, you know where to come and buy it of course! (And I like your typography on Designr).

Alex - Come back and let us know what you think of it if you do a read through Universal Principles of Design. Your Retinart blog is great, by the way. I enjoyed your interview with David Airey

This is one of those books sitting on the shelves at the studio in which I work that I've flicked through briefly in the past but might have to give it a better look now, thanks for the review!
